Corruption
The state had issued a new constitution on qualifications to vote. People must be able to pass a literacy test to vote. The poor at this time could not vote due to the fact that they could not afford an education. This law does make sense to a certain extent until the grandfather clause. Grandfather clause allowed people to vote whether or not they passed the literacy test but if their ancestors could vote before the Civil War. This excludes African-Americans and any immigrants who have recently become citizens. The government saw this as a good government impulse.

Jazz
Everything in this time was beginning to change, for example the rual scene changed to urban skylines. Peoples taste in life was changing, too. Jazz was new in the world and people wanted it. From 1895 to 1925 the jump in popularity of jazz was because of the muscians in New Orleans. These muscians played in a city that had street performances, almost constantly, and these players had a higher energy to their music. The higher energy made it become more popular across the states
